This ‘best of all boltholes’ is just a couple of miles outside the wonderful city of Bath and yet in a rural setting with panoramic valley views and a deep sense of peacefulness.

Kingham Cottage is a beautifully renovated detached stone cottage with a warmth of character that you will feel the moment you arrive. The cottage and the location, between the villages of Combe Down and Monkton Combe, high up on the side of the valley, are idyllic.

The sitting-room is a perfect ‘unwinding’ room, with a stove in the fireplace, deep sofa to sink into, wooden floors and beams. Double-doors take you into the friendly farmhouse-style kitchen/dining-room. Upstairs are two individually presented bedrooms with high beamed ceilings, and the bathroom has an original roll-top bath as well as a contemporary shower cubicle.

The cottage itself is so welcoming and comfortable that you might simply want to stay put, but with the draw of Bath just a short distance away, this will also be a cottage to enjoy returning to after a day out.

Treat yourself to a day’s shopping, stop off at the wonderful deli in Combe Down and head back for a truly relaxing evening in.

If the weather is kind to you, sit out on the sheltered patio at the front of the cottage and feel a part of this gentle rural community. You can easily walk downhill into Monkton Combe to The Wheelwrights Arms pub – walking back up is more of a challenge but Kingham Cottage awaiting you is your reward!

Thank you Umbrage, you are a bear with a big heart!

Thanks After Umbrage for the warm welcome, the beautiful cottage and the opportunity to get away together.
Michael & Caroline from Glasgow

Comfy, cosy cottage. We both feel very relaxed after a few days here in Somerset and a real pleasure to return to Kingham Cottage every evening. Easy drive to Wells, Bath, Somerset – not forgetting Glastonbury. Five days filled with happy memories.
Curtis Family from Hereford

We’ve had a wonderful weekend. Just a shame it had to end so soon. I think a nice, relaxing weekend with beautiful country walks was just what us and the girls needed. Thanks again Tara for being so helpful and hospitable.
The Dale Family
