Support for people who combine employment with caring
11% of the workforce combine caring roles at home with employment. That’s three million people. And yet, they remain an invisible army. Often, the carer themself does not relate to the label. They are simply doing the right thing for their loved one. This is usually a family member who is no longer able to look after themselves. They might have cancer or dementia for example.
After Umbrage is here to support carers and we love helping organisations create kinder cultures. Company cultures where everyone’s talent in nurtured and respected. An estimated 26% of the UK adult population is providing unpaid care to an older, disabled or ill relative or friend – that is equivalent to one in four adults. We can help start difficult conversations with a positive message. That you can offer your employee who is caring for a loved one with a life-limiting condition a free break at Kingham Cottage. It’s a beautiful converted farm cottage with exposed beams, an inglenook fireplace and a roll top bath to name just a few special features.
We can introduce emotive topics about caring. We can tell stories that help people open up about their challenges. We can offer practical signposting to helpful resources.
The culture of your organisation is what attracts and retains talent. Let us help you make it an inclusive workplace.
It’s easy to arrange a talk for your employees. Please contact Tracy.
