A Break for Carers, Before Caring Breaks Their Relationships…

A recent study conducted for Julia’s House, has revealed some powerful statistics on the effects of caring on relationships.

Statistics from research conducted on behalf of Julia’s House

These statistics highlight just how important it is for carers to take a break. Caring is a full time role, and it’s all consuming – both physically and psychologically exhausting. The research found that 64% of divorced or separated parent carers blamed their role as carers as a factor in their relationship break down. Most of these parents had no access to respite care at the time. Read more from the study on the Julia’s House website.

It is for exactly this reason that we set up After Umbrage! We are now able to offer free breaks for carers at our idyllic Kingham Cottage, just outside Bath. How can you care for others if you don’t take time to care for yourself?
